The web has opened up opportunities for those who are seeking to make money online without ever leaving home. Unfortunately, the internet is also cluttered with scams masquerading as opportunities. So before you embark on building a career working online,
you have to learn how to distinguish scams from legitimate jobs that pay real money. Steer clear of the following:
Scam #1: Getting paid thousands of dollars just to surf the web
This is too good to be true, and it certainly is. These scams promise
to send you thousands of dollars just to visit certain websites throughout the day. But when it's time to collect payment, they suddenly require you to sign up for membership so you can get your check. Worse, they ask you to use your credit card to sign up--which
means they can charge you monthly until you actively cancel.
Scam #2: Email chain letters
This is a classic 'make money online' scam. The con artist asks you to send an X amount of money to the person topping the list. You then add your name
to the bottom of the list and forward that list to your friends. The email chain letter is based on the premises that everyone participating can expect to geta payment from the person who is next on the list. The problem is that this rarely ever happens because
the con artist who created the chain keeps his or her name at the top.
Scam #3: Get rich overnight with Google Adsense
Google's Adsense program can truly be profitable for bloggers and website owners, but you have to create unique content and
actively promote your website to make money from it. Some scammers take advantage of people who don't know any better by selling Google Adsense "website kits" that are supposed to be turnkey websites that make money running Google's ads. Unfortunately, these
turnkey sites receive no traffic at all unless you promote them--which means that no one ever sees your Google ads, nothing gets clicked, and you never make any money.

The only sure-fire way to make money online is to
put in sweat equity. Build a blog or website with unique and interesting content. Sell your talent online--whether that's programming, writing, data entry, or graphic design. You can also sign up to answer surveys in exchange for money. These are all legitimate
ways to make money online. They might not earn you thousands of dollars overnight, but they can certainly extend your income.
